Sustainable Infrastructure Standards Collaboration

PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE THROUGH ALIGNED INDICATORS FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN INFRASTRUCTURE (AISI)

Location

Global

Aim

Determine an aligned set of sustainability indicators

Challenge

Several competing Standards are in the market to certify the sustainability of any given infrastructure project. This creates confusion especially amongst infrastructure investors who will need to assess each Standard’s applicability.

Solution

For the first time leading international standard setters met together to determine an aligned set of sustainability indicators. This is a powerful, consensus based message to the market as it details the key aspects that any infrastructure project should address as early as possible in its life-cycle.

Status

Ongoing

Project Information

Project duration is 18 months, USD 310k funded by PPIAF/WB. Currently seeking additional funding sources from other multilateral development banks. Namely, EIB and EBRD. First proposed set of indicators to be submitted to the WB on August 16.
